Ajay Jadeja backs DC to finally come good

On a thrilling night that saw the first Super Over of this season’s IPL, Delhi Capitals won in dramatic fashion. But beyond the fireworks, it was their consency that caught the eye of JioHotstar expert Ajay Jadeja, who believes the team is building towards something special.
“This could be their year,” Jadeja said. “They haven’t even used all their resources yet. No one has fully peaked, and that’s a positive. The ceiling is still ahead. If they’ve come this far without individual brilliance, the only way is up. Sure, there’s always risk, but they’re looking like a more complete unit this year. Once you get into the knockouts, it’s all about delivering on the day, but their consency so far gives me hope that this could be their breakthrough season.”
The Capitals held their nerve in the Super Over, thanks to a calm and calculated approach from KL Rahul and Tran Stubbs. Jadeja was all praise for the duo’s composure.

“We always knew it would be Sandeep Sharma for Royals. KL brought such a calming presence. Even after missing the first ball, he was unfazed. Stubbs was waiting for that short one, and they timed everything just right. With only a few runs to defend, you can’t afford makes, and they didn’t make any.”
Former South Africa wicketkeeper Mark Boucher, who was also on the panel, dissected Rajasthan’s puzzling Super Over strategy, saying they crumbled.
“(Shimron) Hetmyer and (Riyan) Parag didn’t make much of a difference. The biggest surprise was not seeing Yashasvi Jaiswal. Add a no-ball first up, then a run-out. It’s just pressure. These are seasoned pros, but they crumbled.”
The former Mumbai Indians coach also hailed Mitchell Starc’s clutch death-over performance that forced the match into the Super Over.“Starc was brilliant. He’s been hot and cold this season, but this was him showing why he’s still a top-tier bowler. Almost every delivery was on point. He gave Delhi a second wind.”
