Alexander Zverev gets heckled woman on domestic abuse cases
Alexander Zverev was heckled a woman after he lost the Australian Open men’s singles final on Sunday to Jannik Sinner.
The woman made a reference to the two physical abuse cases against the tennis player right as he was about to speak during the trophy ceremony at the Rod Laver Arena.
According to a report in Fox Sports Australia, the woman reportedly yelled: “Australia believes Olya and Brenda! Australia Believes Olya and Brenda!”
Her comments were in reference to the World No 2’s former partners — Brenda Patea and Olya Sharypova — who have gone public with accusations of domestic violence. In fact, a 2024 court case was settled without a finding of guilt or innocence.

Who are Brenda Patea and Olya Sharypova?
The World No 2 was accused of “physically abusing and damaging the health of his former partner, Brenda Patea, during an argument in Berlin back in May 2020. Zverev has a daughter with Patea. Before Patea, there were also allegations about Zverev from Olya Sharypova, another former partner and tennis player, who had alleged on Instagram in October 2020 that the German had abused her at various cities where ATP tournaments were being held. Sharypova had claimed that Zverev had punched her in the face and in another instance had smothered her with a pillow.
The heckling incident came after Zverev became the sixth man in the Open era to lose his first three Grand Slam finals.
Zverev’s 6-3, 7-6 (4), 6-3 defeat to Sinner in the Australian Open final follows the German’s final losses at the 2020 US Open and 2024 French Open. And while those previous defeats — to Dominic Thiem at the 2020 US Open after taking the first two sets and holding a match point, and to Carlos Alcaraz at last year’s French Open after leading two sets to one — had come after long five setters, the defeat to Sinner came in straight sets.
