Hamas accepts US proposal for Gaza ceasefire, awaits Israeli response | World News

Hamas has agreed to a new ceasefire proposal presented US special envoy Steve Witkoff, a Palestinian official close to the group told Reuters on Monday.
According to the report Reuters, the official, the proposal was relayed to Hamas through mediators and includes the release of ten Israeli hostages in two groups, in exchange for a 70-day ceasefire and a partial withdrawal of Israeli forces from the Gaza Strip.
“The proposal includes the release of ten living Israeli hostages held Hamas in two groups in return for a 70-day ceasefire and a partial withdrawal from the Gaza Strip,” the official said.
The agreement would also see the release of several Palestinian prisoners held Israel, including hundreds serving lengthy sentences.
There was no immediate comment from Israel.
