Ameesha Patel reveals Anil Sharma ghosted her for a year, shot Gadar 2 climax without telling her: ‘I hope his conscience strikes’ | Bollywood News

Although Gadar 2 revived her sinking career, which was almost on the verge of hitting rock bottom, owing to back-to-back box office bombs, actor Ameesha Patel is not completely content with the period action drama. Despite being elated over its blockbuster success, Ameesha recently revealed that she felt betrayed the way the movie eventually turned out, which, she said, deviated significantly from the version initially narrated to her that gave prominence to the character, Sakeena Ali Singh.
The actor recently spoke more about the controversy and even went as far as to claim that director Anil Sharma ghosted her for a year during the movie’s shoot. She also maintained that she would sign Gadar 3 — if the makers ever plan to create another sequel for Gadar: Ek Prem Katha (2001) — only if proper paperwork is in place. “I agreed to do Gadar 2 because the climax featured Sakeena killing the villain. It was justified too because the villain (Major-General of Pakan Army Hamid Iqbal, played Manish Wadhwa) executed Sakeena’s father, Ashraf Ali. A consensus in this regard was reached everyone. Sunny ji (Sunny Deol) was also on board and even the dialogues were ready. It would have been an incredible ending,” she shared during a chat with Maniesh Paul.

“Anil Sharma ji is like family; I have known him for 27 years. Hence, there was no contract even when doing the first Gadar; nor was there a bound script, so that we could keep changing it (the narrative) as we progressed, for the betterment of the film. He told me to trust him, asking, ‘Would I do anything that would leave Sakeena unhappy?’ So I went with the flow and shot for the film. After I returned to Mumbai from Palampur, where the first schedule of Gadar 2 was shot, my director did not contact me for a year. During that time, I got to know that they had shot the climax without telling me, two months after we returned,” she shared, while also pointing out that the current climax came across to many as abrupt, particularly since it did not show who eliminated the villain. “Sakeena was the right person to take revenge there.”
She, however, chose not to fight with the director or bring up the matter, even during the movie’s promotions. “Let gones be gones. However, I hope Anil Sharma’s conscience strikes. Also, I believe there’s an almighty and karma; you reap what you sow.” When asked if she would agree to doing Gadar 3 if approached, Ameesha maintained that she has no complaints against anyone. “However, I would want a clear-cut understanding, with everything documented and bound a contract. That said, I’m not opposed to working with anyone in the industry,” she added.
