Amelia Kerr pips Hayley Matthews to win Purple Cap with 18 wickets

WPL 2025 Purple Cap L, Most Wicket Bowler in Women’s Premier League 2025: Harmanpreet Kaur’s Mumbai Indians beat Meg Lanning’s Delhi Capitals to win the third edition of the Women’s Premier League at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai on Sunday for their second title. Having won the inaugural season in 2023, Mumbai claimed their second title in three years.
Mumbai’s domination was displayed in both batting and bowling as players of this team ended up claiming both Orange and Purple Cap in WPL 2025. While Nat Sciver-Brunt won the Orange Cap with 523 runs, it was New Zealand’s Amelia Kerr who won the Purple Cap with 18 wickets. Her teammate, Hayley Matthews also had 18 scalps to her name but the Kiwi topped the highest wicket-taking chart with a better bowling average and strike rate.
Delhi’s Jess Jonassen is third with 13 wickets, while Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s Georgia Wareham and WPL 2025 Most Valuable Player Sciver-Brunt, are fourth and fifth, respectively with 12 wickets each. DC’s Shikha Pandey and Gujarat Giants’ Kashvee Gautam both have 11 wickets.
