An American woman Faye Hall, who was detained in Afghanan in February, was released the Taliban adminration on Saturday, a former US envoy to Afghanan has said, reported BBC.
Former US Special Representative to Afghanan Zalmay Khalilzad, who served in Kabul from 2018-2021, wrote in a post on X that Faye Hall will “soon be heading home”, who was detained alongside a British couple named – Barbie and Peter Reynolds and their interpreter.
As per British media, the couple who are in their seventies, had been running school projects for women and girls in Afghanan and had stayed in 2021 when Taliban took control of Kabul.

A Reuters report quoted a US official who said that the release of Faye Hall was brokered Adam Boehler, the special presidential envoy for hostage affairs alongside Qatar’s officials and others.

Faye is currently in Qatar’s embassy in Kabul and remains in “good health”, a source informed CNN. “Hall was received at the Qatari Embassy in Kabul and has been confirmed in good health after undergoing a series of medical checks. Arrangements are currently underway for her return to the United States,” the source was quoted as saying.
US President Donald Trump shared a video of Faye on Truth Social where she said, “I’ve never been so proud to be an American citizen, Thank you Mr President, God Bless you.”
Trump, while posting her video on Truth Social, wrote “Thank you Faye — So honored with your words!”
Faye is the fourth US citizen to have been released Taliban since January after Qatar brokered an agreement with them. A few days back, Taliban had released another US citizen George Glezmann, who was held in Afghanan for over two years.
