Amid backlash, Madhuri Dixit changes ‘Dil Se… Madhuri’ tour description to ‘meet and greet’; fans, who spent upto Rs 40,000 on tickets, protest  | Bollywood News

Bollywood icon Madhuri Dixit is facing backlash from her fans after she changed the description of her ongoing USA-Canada tour, “Dil Se… Madhuri”, from being “a celebration of dance, music, and memories” to “a meet and greet” session. The change came after widespread criticism of the Toronto leg of her tour, held on November 2, which many fans called “unorganised” and “disappointing.” Several attendees claimed the actress arrived late, barely performed, and instead conducted a Q&A session. They also alleged that while the show was sold as a concert where the actor would perform, she hardly did so and it felt more like a chat.
Amid the controversy, Madhuri shared a new post on her Instagram announcing the upcoming tour dates in the US and Canada, which is now described as a “meet and greet.” Her caption read: “Thank you Toronto for a lovely Meet and Greet.” This shift in positioning has sparked disappointment among her followers, many of whom had expected a full-fledged dance performance.

One user commented, “It’s unfortunate that you’re now stating it’s a meet and greet after your Toronto audience, including myself, spent our money without having the proper information. I’ve been a fan since childhood, but this was disappointing. Transparency is important—please be more straightforward for future shows.”
Another wrote, “You owe Toronto an apology for false advertising. Your original post called it an evening of dance, music, and celebration—not a meet and greet.” Others expressed similar sentiments: “Toronto show was horrible. I see they now added ‘meet and greet.’ What a true disappointment this was! As a celebrity of your stature, it’s sad to see how fans and even local arts were treated. You’ve earned too much to associate yourself with such poor event management.”

“Oh Madhuri love you, you’re an icon — BUT the Toronto show was advertised as a concert, not a fireside chat. Hope the USA shows do better.” Another comment read: “Be prepared for no dance, only Q&A with her and Shalin Bhanot. That’s how Toronto was — everyone left disappointed while organisers earned a lot.”
What is the controversy all about?
When Madhuri first announced her tour a week ago, her Instagram caption read: “I’m beyond thrilled to announce my upcoming tour across the USA & Canada! Can’t wait to connect with all my fans and bring an unforgettable celebration of dance, music, and memories — straight from the heart.”

However, fans in Toronto alleged that the show did not deliver what was promised. Many claimed they were informed that the show would begin at 7:30 PM, but Madhuri arrived only around 10 PM, which they described as “disrespectful” to attendees. Moreover, instead of the expected dance performances, she reportedly engaged in a brief Q&A session.
While fans largely blamed Madhuri, others defended her and directed their frustration toward the organisers.
Organisers blame Team Madhuri
In response to the backlash, the organisers of Toronto show, True Sound Live Ltd, issued a statement denying allegations of mismanagement. They stated that the event began on time with performances Indian Idol singers, followed a Q&A session and Madhuri’s performance.Story continues below this ad
Their statement read: “We would like to clarify the facts regarding the recent Madhuri Dixit – The Golden Girl of Bollywood show held in Toronto, following misleading social media commentary. The event commenced on time with a high-energy opening act featuring exceptional singers from Indian Idol, exactly as scheduled.”

The organisers further claimed that Madhuri’s delay was due to “miscommunication from her own management team.” “Madhuri Dixit’s management team misinformed her about the call time, resulting in her late arrival around 10 PM. This delay was completely beyond the control of True Sound Live Ltd.” The actress herself has not yet addressed the controversy or commented on the organisers’ statement.
