Karnataka Election LIVE Updates: Made a Mistake, But Voters Will Not, Says Amit Shah on His Slip of Tongue

Referring to his recent slip of tongue, Amit Shah said that he may have slipped up between Siddaramaiah and Yeddyurappa, but the people of Karnataka will not make that mistake. While accusing the state government of various failures, Shah had said, “Recently a retired Supreme Court judge said if there was ever a competition of the most corrupt government then the Yeddyurappa government is number one…” Though, Shah quickly corrected himself, the video clip soon went viral on social media, and was tweeted by Congress president Rahul Gandhi and CM Siddaramaiah. They thanked the saffron party chief for the “secret campaign video” he had done for them and also for “finally speaking the truth. As part of his ‘Karunada Jagruti Yatre’, the BJP chief is touring Mysuru, Chamarajanagara, Mandya and Ramanagara districts today and tomorrow. Out of the total 26 seats in the four districts, considered as the Vokkaliga heartland, BJP did not win even a single seat during the 2013 Assembly elections. Moreover, the region is the home turf of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, who hails from Mysuru. This is the fourth leg of Shah’s tour in the state. He has already covered parts of coastal and Malnad, north, and central regions of the state.
