Amitabh Bachchan warned Aamir Khan against ‘abusive dialogues’ in Delhi Belly’s teaser, did it anyway: ‘He had a strange expression’ | Bollywood News

Actor Aamir Khan’s production Delhi Belly (2011), starring his nephew Imran Khan, was considered ahead of its time for its unconventional approach to storytelling. The film also made headlines for its abusive dialogues, foul language and dark humour. In a recent video on Aamir Khan Talkies, the actor reacted to Delhi Belly’s first teaser which was disliked the audience. He also revealed that veteran actor Amitabh Bachchan, who dubbed the promo, had second thoughts about the film and asked him twice before going ahead.
In the beginning of the video, Aamir spoke about the teaser of Delhi Belly and said, “One of the many times we have gone wrong. We thought that it’s an amazing teaser, people would laugh a lot, we were making fun of ourselves and shared it in a humorous way.”
He shared that Amitabh Bachchan had his own doubts about the film. “I requested Amit ji to dub it’s dialogues. He also read and said, ‘Hmm, acha’ with a strange expression on his face. He even saw the trailer and asked me, ‘Aamir, are you sure this is alright?’ I said, ‘Yes sir, no worries’. Unhone dub acha kia tha (he dubbed the teaser well). He has so much emotion in his voice,” he recalled.

While reacting to a video of Delhi Belly director Akshat Verma, Abhinay Deo, and actor Vir Das discussing the teaser drop, Aamir shared, “This teaser was such a big flop. When we made the first teaser for Delhi Belly, no one liked it or understood it. Everyone felt that we were talking very seriously. I think vo 10 saal early tha apne time ke liye (It was ten years early for its time).”

However, the actor made sure to make another teaser to make the viewers understand the film. “I enjoyed both making and watching this trailer, I am enjoying it right now as well. When it released, people thought that we are praising ourselves, they just couldn’t understand what we were trying to do. We received such a bad reaction that I asked to remove that promo and make another one,” he said.
“I was also worried because I don’t ever want to disappoint my audience. They shouldn’t feel that Aamir called us inside and now we are not liking what he is showing us. I am very conscious about that. Hence, we released this teaser so that people know that the film has abusive language. Moreover, it also had a humorous factor,” Aamir Khan added.Story continues below this ad
Towards the end of the video, Aamir asked that why Abhinay, Akshat and Vir were talking in English. “Yeh teeno itna English mein kyu baat karahe hain? Apni audience Hindi ki hai, humko angrezi mein nahi chahiye. I feel that jitna Kam angrezi emaal karein utna better hai (Converse in Hindi language as much as possible, we don’t need English, our audience prefers Hindi)
Besides Imran Khan and Vir Das, Delhi Belly also starred Kunaal Roy Kapur. Directed Abhinay Deo and Akshat Verma, the film was based on three struggler roommates, who unknowingly become the target of a gangster when they misplace his diamonds.
