Anahat Singh, Veer Chotrani qualify for Squash World C’ships 2025

Indian squash players Veer Chotrani and Anahat Singh qualified for the PSA World Championships after winning their respective finals at the World Championships Qualifying Event (Asia) in Kuala Lampur, Malaysia on Sunday.
The second-seeded Chotrani won 3-0 against third seed Ameeshenraj Chandaran of Malaysia while fifth-seeded Anahat defeated Hong Kong China To Tse 3-1 in the final.
Chotrani got better of his opponent in the final in straight games winning 11-3, 11-4, 11-8 while 17-year-old Anahat lost the second game but came back to win 11-4, 9-11, 11-2, 11-8.

Both Indians have confirmed their berth for the 2025 World Championships scheduled in Chicago, USA from 9th May.

Chotrani will make his debut and join Abhay Singh, Velavan Senthilkumar and Ramit Tandon in the men’s singles main draw. Earlier in the semi-finals, he defeated Chi Him Wong of Hong Kong China 3-1 (11-7, 11-6, 7-11, 11-4).
In the women’s event, Anahat will be the only Indian woman to compete. She is only the second Indian woman to qualify for the PSA World Championships over the last six years after Joshna Chinappa. Earlier in the semi-final, she defeated eighth seed Helen Tang of Hong Kong China 3-0 (11-2, 11-7, 11-6).
Other Indians in contention lost early with Akanksha Salunkhe losing 3-1 (11-3, 12-10, 10-12, 11-8) in the semi-finals to China’s To Tse whereas Tanvi Khanna exited in the quarter-finals despite winning against the top-seed in the first round.Story continues below this ad
In the last edition of the tournament, India had no representation in the women’s category while Ramit Tandon retired from his second round tie against Mohamed Elshorbagy of England.
