Anyone can have a bad game or two, but it is happening consently with us: Nitish Rana after MI thrash KKR
IPL 2023 MI vs KKR: Venkatesh Iyer slammed the second century of IPL 2023 when he slammed 104 off just 51 balls to power KKR to 185/6 after being asked to bat.
However, MI chased down the target with 14 balls to spare, with Ishan Kishan top-scoring with 58 while stand-in captain Suryakumar Yadav chipped in with 43.
After the match, KKR captain Nitish Rana admitted that his team were 15-20 runs short and praised leg-spinner Piyush Chawla for his spell.
“I think we were 15-20 runs short. Credit to PC bhai (Piyush Chawla) for how he bowled,” said Rana at the post-match presentation.
Rana also expressed unhappiness over his team’s inability to ride on Iyer’s ton and eke out a positive result.
“Feel bad for Venky; he scored a hundred and played so well but finished on the losing side. The whole team knows this was the second hundred for a player from KKR. Other players from our side will also score hundreds as we advance.
Rana also demanded a better performance from his bowlers and said, “They targeted our best bowlers, and it paid off for them. We could have done better in the powerplay. I would want my bowling unit to deliver more.
“Anyone can have a bad game or two, but it is happening consently with us. We will go back to the dressing room and talk about it,” he concluded.
