Apple sued for false advertising over delay in rollout of Apple Intelligence features | Technology News

Apple’s woes over the delayed rollout of its flagship AI features to iPhones and other devices continue to mount.
The iPhone-maker has been hit with a lawsuit filed in a US drict court in San Jose, California, on Wednesday, March 19, that alleges false advertising of several Apple Intelligence features.
The lawsuit seeks damages from Apple on behalf of customers who purchased iPhones and other devices meant to support Apple Intelligence. It claimed that the new device owners are yet to receive the generative AI features that was announced the big tech company last year.

“Apple’s advertisements [cultivated] a clear and reasonable consumer expectation that these transformative features would be available upon the iPhone’s release,” the lawsuit read. “Contrary to the defendant’s claims of advanced AI capabilities, the products offered a significantly limited or entirely absent version of Apple Intelligence, misleading consumers about its actual utility and performance,” it said.

The lawsuit comes amid recent news reports stating that Apple is struggling to bring its highly anticipated Apple Intelligence to market. Earlier this month, the company announced that its planned AI improvements to voice assant Siri will be delayed until 2026.
According to a report Bloomberg, Apple CEO Tim Cook has reshuffled the top deck of executives after losing confidence in AI head John Giannandrea’s ability to execute on product development. Mike Rockwell, vice president in charge of the Vision Products Group, is now reportedly taking charge to develop and release the AI-improved version of Siri.
