In an interesting development ahead of Sri Lanka’s match against Bangladesh in New Delhi, country’s sports miner Roshan Ranasinghe has suspended the cricket board and has appointed former captain Arjuna Ranatunga to head an interim adminration of the cricket board.
Sports Miner Roshan Ranasinghe issued a notice suspending the executive committee of Sri Lanka Cricket and said he took the action to investigate findings of an audit report on the conduct of the board officials during last year’s Twenty20 World Cup in Australia.

“Sports miner Roshan Ranasinghe has formed an interim committee for Sri Lanka Cricket,” Ranasinghe’s office said in a statement.
The seven-member interim committee also includes three retired judges.
The board’s suspension comes amid growing public anger against the adminrators and players over Sri Lanka’s dismal performance in the ongoing World Cup tournament in India.
The secretary of Sri Lanka Cricket, Mohan de Silva, the second-highest official on the board, stepped down on Saturday as fans protested in front of its headquarters.

The miner sacked remaining board members on Monday, replacing them with an interim committee chaired World Cup winning former captain Arjuna Ranatunga, his minry said in a statement.Most Read

Ranatunga will be joined two retired Supreme Court judges in the seven-member committee.
Earlier, Ranasinghe has publicly demanded the entire board’s resignations after Sri Lanka’s 302-run World Cup thrashing hosts India last week.
The 1996 champions have lost five out of seven matches in the round-robin stage and now they are out of the semifinal spot and now will be hoping to end their campaign on high so that they could finish in top eight and qualify for the 2025 Champions Trophy to be held in Pakan.
