Ask us too who should be in AUS team: Sunil Gavaskar’s pointed response to Australia tour coverage in midst of IND vs NZ series | Cricket News

Sunil Gavaskar slammed the media on Thursday for focussing more on the upcoming Australia series rather than the on-going Test matches against New Zealand, saying there are always so much coverage dedicated to what will happen Down Under in November with former Australian players giving opinions on who should be in the Indian team. Gavaskar also pointedly said no one was asking the former India players who should be in the Australia team.
“It’s not the players. The players are focussed on the game. It’s the circle around which is the media and everybody else which is talking about Australia. There is so much of coverage about what is going to happen in Australia. The Australian players are all the time talking about the Indian team, what should be the team and all that. Pick him, pick that player. No body is asking us about the Australian team. All the former Australian players are telling us pick this guy, that guy. Ask us too who should be in the Australian team,” Gavaskar said on air during the second Test match between India and New Zealand.
Former india international Dinesh Karthik also felt the wrath of the legend when he brought up the Australia series with Gavaskar telling him to focus on the task in hand i.e. India fighting hard to keep the series alive against the Kiwis in Pune.
“Don’t talk about Australia now. That is a make that a lot of people often make. You’ve got to worry about what’s happening now. Your focus should be only on what’s happening at the moment. Australia will take care of itself. When you go there, you will find the methods to beat Australia. You’ve done that over the last couple of trips there. You found a way,” he said.

After the New Zealand series, India will travel to Australia for a 5-match Test series, starting on November 22.
