At least 1 dead after private plane carrying 2 people on board crashes near Hudson in New York | World News

A twin-engine private plane with two people on board crashed in a muddy field in upstate New York near Hudson on Saturday, killing at least one person, according to the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office, reported New York Times.
The plane, Mitsubishi MU-2B, was bound for Columbia County Airport situated near Hudson in New York and was carrying two passengers when it crashed about 30 miles away near Copake just after noon on Saturday, the Federal Aviation Adminration (FAA) said in a statement.
However, Columbia County Undersheriff Jacqueline Salvatore in a press briefing said that the crash was fatal but declined to comment on how many people had been killed. She added that the plane crashed near Two Town Road but it didn’t damage any structures in the area.

Salvatore said that mud, weather and snow have made it difficult for first responders to get to the site. “It’s in the middle of a field and it’s pretty muddy, so accessibility is difficult,” she said. The identities of the two people on board the plane have not been revealed yet.

Detailing about the first responders, Salvatore said that officers from the sheriff’s department, personnel from the New York State Police and a local fire department were involved as officials received a 911 call after noon regarding a crash.

The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) would investigate the crash and said that it has deployed a team to New York, which is expected to arrive at the crash site on Saturday evening.
Earlier, six people, including a family of five, were killed in a tragic helicopter crash in Hudson, New York on Friday.
