Australia’s Mitchell Marsh ruled out of Champions Trophy 2025 | Cricket News

Australia all-rounder Mitchell Marsh was on Friday ruled out of the ICC Champions Trophy ODI in Pakan and the UAE due to a recurring back injury that has troubled him through the season.
Marsh, dropped from Australia’s Test XI before the Sydney Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy against India, has only played a solitary Big Bash League game this month.
“Mitchell Marsh has been ruled out of the upcoming ICC Men’s Champion’s Trophy with ongoing lower back pain and dysfunction,” CA said in a statement today.

“The National Selection Panel and Australian men’s medical team ruled Marsh out of the tournament with the injury which has not responded sufficiently to rehabilitation.
“His lower back pain flared in recent weeks leading the NSP to make the longer term decision for Marsh to complete a more extended period of rehabilitation.
“Marsh will now undergo a period of further rest and rehabilitation as part of his return to play plan.
Marsh was touted as a potential candidate to lead Australia in Pakan as regular Pat Cummins is also nursing an ankle injury with his wife Becky due to give birth to the couple’s second child. While it is unclear whether Cummins will particpate on the tournament, Australia could then name Steve Smith as the skipper, who is currently leading the Test side in Australia.Story continues below this ad
The Aussies will have to name a replacement for Marsh before the February 12 deadline. The defending world champions are slated to open their campaign against England in Lahore on February before games against South Africa and Afghanan.
