Babil Khan denies reports of being in depression, says mom Sutapa’s statement was used out of context: ‘Anything for likes’ | Bollywood News

In December last year, Irrfan Khan’s wife and writer Sutapa Sikdar had shared that the constant comparisons with the late actor is building pressure on their son Babil Khan, who then was just three movies old. The star wife had claimed that these comparisons is pushing the 26-year-old actor towards depression. Now, in an exclusive conversation with SCREEN, Babil Khan who is gearing up for the release of his new film Logout, shared that all of these things were taken out of context. “People who make these headlines don’t think that they are damaging someone’s life”, said the actor.
Babil Khan, who seemed quite excited about his new project, denied claims of getting into depression. He said, “That was not true. Basically, it was a casual conversation with someone and somebody picked it up out of context. This was really bad. It is out of context and it is untrue, which makes me think that this film (Logout) is so relevant.”

Comparing his attention hungry character from his upcoming film to people who made headline out of his mother’s statement, Babil said, “My character Pratman is literally not thinking about humanity. He will do anything for likes and the person who is taking these statements out of context and putting it out as news, he is not thinking about, ‘Oh my God, I might be damaging this human’s life.’ No. Headline ban raha hai so they will do it. It’s a cycle. If it has to happen, it will happen and if I will have to go through it, I will go through it. I just want to work towards a purification of myself, where I have fun with it. But to have fun with it, first I will have to go through the pain.”
Babil made headlines in December when his mother during her visit to Lucknow, told Hindustan Times, “There is a lot of pressure on Babil, and I don’t think this is right. This pressure should not be there, Irrfan never had that pressure and when you don’t put any pressure on yourself, your individuality comes out. It is not only about work but also about losing the father figure, he is almost in depression. As a mother, I feel, ‘Please mere bachche ko chhor do’ (Leave my child alone).”
