BCCI appoints Amol Muzumdar as women’s cricket team head coach | Cricket News

Indian domestic cricket legend Amol Muzumdar was appointed as the head coach of the senior women’s cricket team on Wednesday.
“I am deeply honoured and privileged to be appointed as the Head Coach of the Indian Women’s Cricket Team. I thank the CAC and the BCCI for placing their trust in me and believing in my vision and the roadmap for Team India “This is a huge responsibility and I look forward to working closely with talented players and providing them with the right preparation and guidance to excel.” Muzumdar said according to the BCCI press release.
The 48-year-old also emphasised his ambitions for the team for the next couple of years. “The next two years are extremely important as two World Cups are scheduled in the period. Together with the coaching and support staff, we will look to tick every box and give ourselves the best chance to succeed,” he said.

Since Ramesh Powar left in 2022 the position was not filled. The Cricket Advisory Committee of Ms Sulakshana Naik, Mr Ashok Malhotra, and Mr Jatin Paranjape interviewed the shortled applicants and unanimously recommended Muzumdar.Most Read

“The team has consently delivered impressive performances in bilateral and multi-nation events, and I am certain our players will benefit immensely under Mr Muzumdar’s guidance and roadmap,” said BCCI President Roger Binny
Honorary Secretary Jay Shah would also congratulate Muzumdar. “I congratulate Mr. Amol Muzumdar on his appointment. He brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise and possesses a keen understanding of the modern game,” he would say.
Muzumdar scored 111,67 first-class runs in 171 matches including 30 centuries during his 21-year career. He also played 100 L A games and 14 T20 matches.
