Ben Stokes became the highest individual scorer in England’s ODI hory when he smashed 182 against New Zealand in the 3rd ODI on Thursday.
This was also his first century and fourth overall since returning to the ODI setup for the upcoming 2023 World Cup. To reach his ton, he took 76 balls and to reach the milestone of 182, he needed 124 balls, peppered with 15 fours and 9 sixes.
Stokes’s last ODI hundred had come against Australia in 2017 in the Champions Trophy. Stokes had retired from ODIs last July, two months after being named England’s test captain.

He was Player of the Match in the 2019 World Cup final on home soil, when he hit an unbeaten 84 as England beat New Zealand in a dramatic super over.

New Zealand left out spinner Mitchell Santner after he jarred his knee fielding in the second ODI, which England won 79 runs to square the four-match series that ends at Lord’s on Friday.
Pacers Tim Southee and Matt Henry were rested, so Kyle Jamieson, Lockie Ferguson and Ben Ler came into a much-changed bowling attack. T20 special Finn Allen was dropped for Henry Nicholls, allowing Will Young to open the batting.
