BJP holds protests against Nath Govt

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), main Opposition in the State Assembly on Wednesday staged protests in all the districts including State Capital Bhopal playing instruments like dhol-majira in order to break the ‘slumber’ of the Kamal Nath-led Congress Government in Madhya Pradesh on Wednesday.

The Congress Government was in Kumbhkarni sleep and the Opposition was required to wake it up by playing dhol-majira and bells, said the party calling the protests Ghantanaad (blowing the bells) agitation.

The party State head Rakesh Singh led the protest in Bhopal staging a gherao of the collectorate with thousands of party workers and senior party leaders.

Former Lok Sabha speaker Sumitra Mahajan and Lok Sabha MP Nandkumar Singh Chauhan staged the protest with partymen in Indore.

The enthusiastic workers while moving towards the collectorate broke the security cordon and scaled the walls of the collectorate.

In the process, the police had a scuffle with protesters.

Leader of Opposition Gopal Bhargav took part in the protest in Jabalpur where the police had to use water cannons to disperse the angry protesters.

“No work is being done in the Congress Government as the Government is busy making excuses,” alleged Bhargav while speaking to the media during the protest.

We have staged this protest to wake up the Government, claimed the senior leader alleging that in this Government peons resort to work after accepting envelopes and minister only work after getting suitcases (money).

Bhargav also courted arrest along with other leaders and workers after the protest.

The BJP leaders claimed that they are on roads over the issues including farm loan waiver, unemployment allowance, spiralling electricity bills and others.

Shivraj Singh in Vidisha, Archana Chitnis in Burhanpur and Bhupendra Singh led the protest in Gwalior.

State Congress Media in-charge Shobha Oza told media persons that the BJP leaders should launch an agitation to wake up the Central Government, if they are really concerned about the spiraling prices.
