BJP sends notice to former MLA Surendra Nath Singh for threatening to ‘spill the blood’ of MP CM Kamal Nath
Bhopal: Hours after Bharatiya Janata Party leader Surendra Nath Singh sparked row threatening to “spill the blood” of Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Kamal Nath, the saffron party issued a notice to the former MLA.
Singh was leading a protest against action being taken against the poor vendors and inflated power bills handed to slum dwellers during which he gave the statement saying, “blood will flow on the streets, and that blood will be of Kamal Nath”.
Apart from Kamal Nath, the former MLA from the Bhopal Madhya seat had also threatened to spill the blood of state’s chief secretary SR Mohanty, if injustice was meted out to the common people.
Speaking on the issue, Chief Minister Kamal Nath said that there was no need to say anything about the issue as the House has already condemned the BJP leader’s statement.
“I don’t need to say anything about this anymore. This has been the BJP’s culture to spread anarchy. The BJP members preach values and character but their own office bearers and workers have always stayed away from such conduct,” IANS quoted Nath as saying.
Raising the issue of inflated bills Singh urged the people to disconnect the power connection of CM’s residence and the State Secretariat if their electricity is cut over non-payment of dues. He also told the protestors to thrash up officials who come to for collecting inflated electricity bills.
The former BJP MLA’s actions led to the disruption of Assembly proceedings.
Later, Bhopal police registered a case against Surendra Nath Singh for holding a protest in Roshanpura area of the city “in violation of prohibition orders” and for his comment on MP CM Kamal Nath.
The case was registered under IPC section 188 (disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant) and 143 (unlawful assembly) for violating the prohibitory orders under section 144 of the CrPC which was imposed in the area. However, Singh was later granted bail by a court.
Members from within the party also criticized his actions saying it was against Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s stated policy of public conduct.
Yesterday, the Assembly was adjourned twice during the Question Hour after the ruling Congress members created ruckus over the alleged statement made by Singh against the Chief Minister.
While the BJP members said they were ready for a discussion on the issue, Leader of Opposition Gopal Bhargava said his party does not approve of such behaviour.
