BJP youth wing president killed by terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir’s Shopian
Srinagar: The district president of BJP youth wing was on Thursday killed by terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir’s Shopian district.
Terrorists slit the throat of BJP’s Shopian youth president Gowhar Ahmad Bhat.
Bhat had played a crucial role in organising first BJP state youth convention recently.
Meanwhile, the photograph of the BJP leader has also been released by news agency ANI.
A police official said the body of the 30-year-old was recovered from an orchard in Kiloora.
He was a resident of Bongam area in Shopian. The police have registered a case and investigations are on, the official said.
Meanwhile, a BJP functionary said the deceased was associated with the party.
“Bhat was the district president of the BJP’s youth wing,” party’s media in-charge for Kashmir, Altaf Thakur, said here. He said Bhat had been associated with the party for over two years.
Earlier in the day, another attack was reported from J&K’s Anantnag district which left at least five security personnel injured.
As per a report, the terrorists launched an attack on the CRPF patrolling party in the wee hours today.
A police official told PTI that militants opened fire on the vehicle of the 96 Battalion CRPF at Lazibal in Anantnag district at 8.30 AM.
He said three CRPF jawans received bullet injuries while two others were injured after getting hit by broken glass panes of the vehicle.
The injured personnel have been admitted to a hospital, he said, adding an operation has been launched to track down the assailants.
Later, terrorist outfit Lashkar-e-Toiba claimed the responsibility for the attack.
