BJP’s bitter pills for nation’s benefit, says Amit Shah

BHOPAL: BJP president Amit Shah said it was painful to take harsh decisions like demonetisation and GST, but they are necessary since they are not done for political gain but in the interest of the country.
“BJP has taken several decisions like demonetisation and implementing a new tax regime that could be considered as bitter pills for society. But all such decisions were in the interest for a better future. BJP is not just aiming for political gains or garnering votes but to make our nation a Vishwa Guru (world leader),” Shah said while addressing intellectuals on ‘Naya Bharat Manthan — Sankalp Se Siddhi Tak’ (Brainstorming on New India — From Resolution to Realisation).

Shah said it was Congress that took political decisions to woo voters and garner votes for political gains. “The basic difference between Congress and BJP is that the Opposition party lacks internal democracy while BJP is a party with democratic values within the organisation,” he asserted. “Of the 1,650 political parties in the country, except for BJP, all others are guided by the principle of getting to power. In the BJP regime, development is clearly visible only because a person like a tea-seller could reach the highest position in the country. In Congress, however, Gandhi dynasty rule prevails just as in Samajwadi Party and RJD. The sons will prevail in these parties,” said Shah.
Praising the Shivraj Singh Chouhan government, the BJP president said that the Bimaru (laggard) tag has been removed from BJP ruled states like Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Uttarakhand. “Bihar is developing fast. Now, BJP has joined the government to speed up development,” he said.
“Madhya Pradesh has done well in all 105 schemes launched by the NDA government. It has implemented the projects well and has undertaken massive development work for the welfare of the public. In 13 years of BJP rule, Madhya Pradesh has turned into a developing state,” he said. Hitting out at Congress, he said that unlike the Opposition party, BJP favoured reconstruction by preserving the culture and values of the nation. “It was Congress that reaped the political benefit of freedom struggle despite the fact that Mahatma Gandhi had advocated dissolving Congress after Independence and form separate political groups on the basis of different thoughts. But, they ignored Bapu’s advice,” Shah said.
