This year, as the couple remains in the spotlight over their legal drama involving It Ends With Us director and co-star Justin Baldoni, TMZ reports he’s not the reason behind their decision to skip the May event. In fact, “they made the call long before any of that unfolded.”

The 2022 Met Gala marked Blake Lively’s 10th appearance at the iconic New York City event, where she and Ryan Reynolds co-chaired alongside Regina King and Lin-Manuel Miranda for the ‘Gilded Glamour’ theme. Lively stole the show that night, arriving in a custom Atelier Versace gown that transformed in real-time. Halfway up the famous steps of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, she flipped the train of her dress to reveal a stunning aqua tone. The two were recently spotted at SNL’s 50th-anniversary celebration, looking perfectly at ease stepping back into the spotlight.
This year’s Met Gala theme, announced back in October 2024, is “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style.” The dress code takes inspiration from the “exhibit’s focus on menswear and is intentionally open-ended, giving guests room to get creative with their interpretations.”
