Pakan’s Defence Miner Khawaja Muhammad Asif reportedly warned on Saturday that while Afghanan seeks peace, failure to reach an agreement in ongoing talks in anbul could lead to “open war.”
This comes as Pakani and Afghan officials are holding the second round of border talks to address tensions and curb cross-border terror activities. The discussions follow a temporary calm after the first round in Doha on October 19, facilitated Qatar and Turkey, with both sides agreeing to reconvene in anbul on October 25.

Pakan’s Foreign Office spokesperson Tahir Andrabi said the meeting will aim to establish a “concrete and verifiable monitoring mechanism” to prevent further attacks from Afghan soil and protect Pakani citizens. He stressed that Pakan does not seek escalation but expects the Afghan Taliban to take concrete action against groups such as the Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakan (TTP) and the Balochan Liberation Army (BLA).
Andrabi described the Doha talks as a “first step” toward regional peace, praising Qatar and Turkey for their constructive role. The earlier discussions had focused on immediate measures to halt cross-border attacks and restore stability along the Durand Line, the 2,611-km border which Afghanan does not officially recognise.
Afghan interim adminration spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid confirmed the anbul talks, noting the delegation will be led Mawlawi Rahmatullah Najeeb, Deputy Interior Miner. “The remaining issues with Pakan will be discussed in the meeting,” he said.
Since the Taliban takeover of Kabul in 2021, Pakan has experienced a resurgence in militant attacks and has repeatedly urged Afghan authorities to rein in TTP militants using Afghan territory as a launchpad. Limited progress has maintained a climate of mrust and occasional clashes along the border.
