Trump says LA ‘would have been obliterated’ without National Guard, calls Newsom ‘Newscum’ in Truth Social post | World News

President Donald Trump defended his decision to send the National Guard to Los Angeles, writing on his Truth Social account that the move prevented major destruction and blaming California leaders for what he called poor handling of the protests.
In the post, Trump wrote: “We made a great decision in sending the National Guard to deal with the violent, instigated riots in California. If we had not done so, Los Angeles would have been completely obliterated.”
He also mocked Governor Gavin Newsom and Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass, saying they should have thanked him instead of criticising the federal response. “The very incompetent ‘Governor,’ Gavin Newscum, and ‘Mayor,’ Karen Bass, should be saying, ‘THANK YOU, PRESIDENT TRUMP, YOU ARE SO WONDERFUL. WE WOULD BE NOTHING WITHOUT YOU, SIR,’” Trump wrote.

He accused California leaders of misleading the public calling the protests peaceful, writing: “They choose to lie to the People of California and America saying that we weren’t needed, and that these are ‘peaceful protests’. Just one look at the pictures and videos of the Violence and Destruction tells you all you have to know.”
Trump ended his post saying the federal government would always act to protect citizens, “We will always do what is needed to keep our Citizens SAFE, so we can, together, MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!”
The president’s post came as tensions remain high in Los Angeles and other cities over his immigration crackdown and the decision to send in federal troops without state approval. Governor Newsom has announced a lawsuit, calling the deployment a violation of the law. Protests have continued for three days, with over 80 arrests reported in Los Angeles and San Francisco.
