Cabinet clears proposal for 27% reservation for OBC

BHOPAL: Kamal Nath cabinet cleared the proposal for 27% reservation of OBC (Other Backward Caste) in jobs and education institutes. It has also given nod to increase of 3% in dearness allowance of government employees and pensioners. The cabinet passed the resolution to provide 27% reservation to the OBCs that it had promised during assembly polls. Now the Bill will be drafted and presented in the assembly to make it a reality.

In another important decision, DA of employees and pensioners has been increased by 3% from January onwards. At present government employees were getting 9% DA, after hike they will get 12%- equal to the central government. Public Relation minister PC Sharma, briefing media persons said that this decision of government will add an additional burden on state exchequer to the tune of Rs 1647 crores. More than 4.7 lakh employees and 4 lakh pensioners will avail benefit of this decision.

Cabinet has also approved the proposal for auction of diamond mines in Chhatarpur district. Government has estimated the auction value at Rs 60,000 crores. Giving boost to science and technology, cabinet has decided to open Science Centres in Chhindwara and Jabalpur. A science city in Bhopal has also been approved.

Moreover, a proposal worth Rs 17 crore for establishing a regional science centre and extension of planetarium at Ujjain has also been approved. Cabinet has also decided to provide a government job to mountaineers Bhavna Daheria, Megha Parmar and their coach Ratnesh Pandey- for successfully scaling Mount Everest. The cabinet also decided to bear expenses of Rs 27 lakh on the expedition and provided Rs 3 lakh to the mountaineers for their achievement.
