Canada has led the Lawrence Bishnoi gang as a terror entity, the government said in a statement. The designation bars Canadians from financing or aiding the group led jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi.

The new designation also allows authorities to seize property and freeze accounts of the gang in Canada, The Canadian Press reported.

“A terror ling means anything owned that group in Canada, property, vehicles, money can be frozen or seized and gives Canadian law enforcement more tools to prosecute terror offences, including those related to financing, travel and recruitment,” a release the Canadian government on Monday said.
