Car hits pedestrians during Liverpool Premier League title parade | World News

A car struck a group of Liverpool supporters during the club’s Premier League victory parade on Monday evening, police said. The incident occurred around 6pm on Water Street in the city centre, where thousands had gathered to celebrate Liverpool’s 20th league title.
In a statement, Merseyside Police said, “We were contacted at just after 6pm today, Monday 26 May, following reports a car had been in a collision with a number of pedestrians on Water Street. The car stopped at the scene and a male has been detained. Emergency services are currently on the scene.”
Footage shared on social media showed emergency services responding and dressed fans at the scene. It is not yet clear if anyone was injured.

North West Ambulance Service also confirmed its response to the incident, “NWAS is supporting an incident in Liverpool city centre, following reports of a road traffic collision. We are currently assessing the situation and working with other members of the emergency services. Our priority is to ensure people receive the medical help they need as quickly as possible.”
The parade, which began at Allerton Maze shortly after 2pm, was part of a 10-mile route through the city. Players including Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk joined fans to mark Liverpool’s title win, their first since 2020.
Police and ambulance services said further updates would be issued as more information becomes available.
