Carlos Alcaraz on training with Roger Federer: ‘It seemed as if he had never retired’ | Tennis News
Carlos Alcaraz recently shared his experience of training with Roger Federer during the Shanghai Masters, highlighting the valuable advice and insights he received from the tennis legend.
“The timing is there. Roger will always have that quality,” Alcaraz told Marca.
“He played so easily with me. He mentioned it was the first time he’d played with that level of intensity since his retirement. He hit the ball so effortlessly, so naturally, with such elegance,” said the Spaniard. “It seemed as if he had never retired.”
Alcaraz spent significant time with Federer during the tournament and made the most of the opportunity. “I had the chance to play with him, talk to him, and ask him things about his career, how it went, and what he’s done,” he said.
“My career has just started, and I tried to ask him things that could help me in the future.”
The two also watched the Masters 1000 final together. “We talked about everything: the match, the final with Djokovic, and things he would have done. It was a great moment for me, and I hope he comes to see me play more often,” Alcaraz added.
