Raid 2 box office collection day 7: Ajay Devgn’s film is just Rs 10 crore shy of passing the Rs 100 crore mark | Bollywood News

Raj Kumar Gupta’s thriller, Raid 2, starring Ajay Devgn, has outperformed the actor’s other recent hit, Vikas Bahl’s horror film Shaitaan. It has continued to perform well throughout its opening week of release. However, it’s still shy of entering the coveted Rs 100 crore club. But, given its current pace, it’s slowly and surely heading towards that mark. On Wednesday, Raid 2 collected Rs 4.75 crore, which is its lowest single-day collection at the domestic box office so far.
This is a further drop form its Tuesday collection of Rs 7 crore, another minor dip from its Monday collection of Rs 7.5 crore. Prior to that, Raid 2 had been earning in double digits every day, amassing Rs 19.25 crore, Rs 12 crore, Rs 18 crore, and Rs 22 crore on Thursday (May 1, opening day), Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, respectively.
As per industry tracker Sacnilk, the opening week box office collection of Raid 2 stands at Rs 90.5 crore domestically. It’s still Rs 10 crore shy of crossing the Rs 100 crore milestone. Its current trajectory of single-digit earnings suggests that it may not be able to achieve that feat on Thursday either. However, it’s sure to hit the Rs 100 crore mark Friday or during the weekend. Raid 2 continues to reger its maximum occupancy during the night shows (14.63%), followed afternoon shows (10.30%), evening shows (9.96%), and morning shows (5.46%).

Starting Friday, Raid 2 will face stiff competition from debutant director Karan Sharma’s romantic comedy Bhool Chuk Maaf, starring Rajkummar Rao and Wamiqa Gabbi. While it’s a different genre and may not be a part of a franchise, the film reunites the forces of Rao and producer Dinesh Vijan of Maddock Films, who delivered Stree 2, the biggest hit of Hindi cinema. Raid 2 has surpassed other recent tentpoles like Karan Singh Tyagi’s period courtroom drama Kesari 2, starring Akshay Kumar, and Gopichand Malineni’s action film Jaat, starring Sunny Deol.

Raid 2 is the sequel of Gupta’s 2018 hit thriller Raid, which also starred Devgn in the lead. While Ileana D’Cruz played Devgn’s wife in the first part, Vaani Kapoor has replaced her in the sequel. Additionally, Saurabh Shukla, who played the chief antagon in Raid, plays more of a troublemaking narrator in Raid 2.
Amit Sial also reprises his role of a morally ambiguous Income Tax officer from the first part. Joining the cast in the sequel are Riteish Deshmukh as a suave, corrupt politician, Supriya Pathak as his mother, and Rajat Kapoor as the IT Commissioner. Devgn reprises his role of Amay Patnaik, an altruic IT officer who conducts a relentless raid on a corrupt politician’s premises.
