After his blockbuster Test debut series against India in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, Australia batter Sam Konstas has made the cut for the national side’s central contracts l for the 2025-26 season, announced on Tuesday.
Konstas, spinner Matthew Kuhnemann who recently went through a bowling action re-analysis test, and all-rounder Beau Webster were the fresh additions to the central contracts while the trio of all-rounder Aaron Hardie, pacer Sean Abbott and spinner Todd Murphy lost their annual deals.
White-ball sensations Cooper Conolly and Jake-Fraser McGurk were also snubbed from the contracts in a calendar season that will witness Australia vying for a second men’s T20 World Cup title in India and Sri Lanka in 2026.

“Matt (Kuhnemann) was outstanding once again in Sri Lanka and we believe he can play a key role across the next 18 months,” Australia chairman of selectors George Bailey said.
“In Beau’s case he proved more than comfortable at Test level with bat and ball, adds an additional dimension in the field and to the balance of the side. In Sam we see promising upside in a young player who will continue to develop at first class level and in the international environment,” remarked Bailey.
