Chuck Schumer, the US Senate Minority Leader, has suggested that he could file a complaint with the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) against the White House for editing the US President’s interview on CBS’s 60 Minutes.In his interview on 60 Minutes, Trump spoke about a wide range of topics, from the US nuclear programme to China, Venezuela Zohran Mamdani.

Trump was asked about pardoning Binance founder CZ
During the interview, Trump was also asked about pardoning Binance founder Changpeng Zhao. Trump responded saying he didn’t know who he was.

“I don’t know the man at all. I don’t think I ever met him,” Trump said. “I have no idea who he is. I was told that he was a victim, just like I was and just like many other people, of a vicious, horrible group of people in the Biden adminration.”
CBS edits Binance pardon questions from online version
However, according to an Axios report, the exchange about accusations of corruption involving his family’s crypto empire was not included in the extended version CBS shared online.
“So not concerned about the appearance of corruption with this?” Trump was asked during the interview, to which the US President replied, “I can’t say, because — I can’t say — I’m not concerned. I don’t — I’d rather not have you ask the question.”
“But I let you ask it. You just came to me and you said, ‘Can I ask another question?’ And I said, yeah. This is the question.”
When the interviewer responded, saying, “And you answered,” to which Trump said, “I don’t mind. Did I let you do it? I coulda walked away. I didn’t have to answer this question. I’m proud to answer the question.”

What Trump said about CBS editing Harris interview
Schumer pointed out that ahead of the 2024 Presidential elections, Trump had accused CBS of editing an interview with his rival, Democratic candidate, Kamala Harris.
“It will use the exact same language Trump lodged against Vice President Harris,” Schumer wrote.

Paramount paid Trump $16 million
In July, Paramount, the parent of CBS News, had reached a $16 million settlement with Trump over his claim of false editing of the interview with Harris. Trump had filed a $10 billion lawsuit against Paramount, and the company reached a settlement with the US President despite most legal experts saying that the case would be thrown out.

Many had claimed that Paramount had settled with Trump to ensure that the FCC would clear its upcoming merger with Skydance Media.
Responding to Schumer on X, the FCC chair, Brendan Carr, said the agency did not have the manpower to process the complaint due to the ongoing government shutdown.
