Chinmayi Sripada got morphed nude image; kids received death threats after husband’s mangalsutra remark | Bollywood News

Singer–dubbing arte Chinmayi Sripada has taken to Instagram to allege online abuse trolls. She claimed that she received a morphed nude image of herself from an anonymous account. She even blurred and posted the photo and also shared a video addressing the issue. Chinmayi shared that she has been receiving a lot of hate online, and she received the morphed image shortly after her husband, actor and filmmaker Rahul Ravindran, shared his views on the mangalsutra tradition.
She wrote in the caption, “I got a morphed image from a page today and tagged the cops – whether legal action happen will happen or not is not the issue But I made this video for girls and their families to safeguard against the ‘Lanja Munda’ spewing people here who have been paid to do this for the past 8-10 weeks to harass our family.”
In the video, Chinmayi said, “My husband happen to make a comment on mangalsutra and ever since then I have been abused, my children have been given death threats, I have filed a police complaint against a few on the Twitter Spaces who said that the kind of women they don’t like shouldn’t ever have children, and if they do, their children must die. There were men applauding and laughing at this.”
For the unversed, Chinmayi has been very vocal during the #MeToo movement. She had accused lyric Vairamuthu of sexual harassment. In the video, she also spoke about how she is often the target of trolls after she opened up about facing sexual harassment. She said, “A lot of people have abused me; they have been paid for political groups. There are IT cells who do that. There was a particular Tweet today that shared a morphed photo of me in the nude, I also tagged the police as I shared it.” She added, “I am sharing so women know these kinds of things happen, men do this on social media to harass women and push us out of public spaces making this space unsafe.”

Recently, Rahul, who is promoting his directorial movie The Girlfriend, reportedly shared his perspective on how cultural symbols like the mangalsutra should be a matter of personal choice and that there is no such symbol for men in society. The Girlfriend stars Rashmika Mandanna in lead role, which shows her taking a stand against her misogyn and toxic boyfriend.
