According to Variety, production is scheduled to begin in the first half of 2025. Nolan will write and produce the film alongside his wife and longtime collaborator, wife Emma Thomas. The Odyssey is one of the oldest and most enduring works of literature, still captivating modern audiences. It tells the story of Greek hero Odysseus and his perilous journey home after the Trojan War.
The filmmaker will reunite with actors he has worked with on previous films, including Matt Damon, Anne Hathaway, and Robert Pattinson. Damon and Hathaway appeared in Oppenheimer and Interstellar (2014), while Pattinson starred in Nolan’s 2020 sci-fi thriller Tenet. Meanwhile, The Odyssey will mark Nolan’s first collaboration with Tom Holland, Zendaya, Lupita Nyong’o, and Charlize Theron.
In an interview with Variety, Tom Holland confirmed that he’d been cast, but refused to divulge more details. “To be perfectly honest, I don’t really know what it’s about. I’m super excited, but it’s been pretty quiet about the project. I met with [Nolan] and it was awesome. He kind of loosely pitched what it is, and I’m sure when he’s ready he’ll announce what it’s about,” he said.
