CM lauds Women’s hockey team’s performance at Tokyo Olympics

Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that the Indian women’s hockey team has given an outstanding performance in the Tokyo Olympics. These young women won the hearts of the people of the country. We are fulfilling our duty by honoring them in Madhya Pradesh, the heart of the country. In the next Olympics, they will definitely win gold medal.

Chouhan was addressing during the luncheon hosted by him in honor of the Indian women’s hockey team at his residence this afternoon. Chouhan said that the members of the team displayed immense courage and skill in the Olympics. This has raised hopes of better performance of Indian women’s hockey team in the future competitions. Chouhan presented a replica of Sanchi Stupa to every member of the team as a memento. He also presented a memento to Shri Tushar Khandekar, coach of the Indian team.

Sports Minister Yashodhara Raje Scindia, Indian Olympic Association and F.I.H. President Narinder Dhruv Batra, Principal Secretary Sports and Youth Welfare Department Shri Gulshan Bamra, Director Sports Shri Ravi Gupta, Director Public Relations Shri Ashutosh Pratap Singh were present on the occasion.

Indian women’s hockey team

The Indian Women’s Hockey Team comprises Rani Rampal (Captain), Savita (Vice Captain), Deep Gras Ekka (Vice Captain), Vandana Kataria, P. Sushila Chanu, Navjot Kaur, Namita Toppo, Monika, Nikki Pradhan, Gurjit Kaur, E. Rajni, Navneet Kaur, Neha, Lalremsiami, Reena Khokhar, Udita, Salima Tete, Sharmila Devi and Nisha. Among these players, Vandana Kataria and E. Rajni have been associate members of Madhya Pradesh State Women’s Academy. Both of them have also represented Madhya Pradesh in the national competition. Reena Khokhar, Monika and P. Sushila Chanu have taken training from Madhya Pradesh State Women’s Hockey Academy.
