CM presents Rs 1 cr cheque to Olympian Vivek Sagar
Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that the State Government will provide a concrete house to the family of Olympic hockey player Vivek Sagar. The house will be provided to Vivek Sagar’s family as per their wish be it any city or village. Chouhan presented a Samman Nidhi cheque of Rs one crore to Vivek Sagar, and also announced to give the post of DSP in Madhya Pradesh Government apart from samman nidhi cheque of Rs one crore.
Chouhan said that Prime Minister Shri Modi has encouraged the sportspersons of the country. They are our inspiration. States must take interest in this direction and provide necessary facilities to the players so that they can create golden history. India’s bronze medal in hockey in Tokyo Olympics is not just a medal but it is a revival of hockey. Today, we are all proud of Vivek Sagar, resident of Itarsi of Madhya Pradesh for his outstanding performance in the Olympics. Madhya Pradesh Cabinet also welcomed and honoured Vivek Sagar.
Chouhan was addressing the award ceremony of medal winners and participants of Tokyo Olympics-2020 in Madhya Pradesh at Minto Hall auditorium today on International Youth Day. On this occasion, Indian hockey team member Vivek Sagar and other sports talents were also honored. Chouhan himself presented the Olympic bronze medal to Vivek Sagar.
The Chief Minister honoured international hockey player Vivek Sagar with a shawl and Samman Nidhi. Along with this, he also announced Samman Nidhi of Rs 25 lakh to assistant coach Shivendra Singh. Chouhan said that success is easily achieved if you have the strong will, passion and dedication. If you give the players all the facilities, see how they work wonders. Vivek Sagar hails from a simple family. His father is a teacher. Parents of children who are interested in sports should also give their children the opportunity to take part in sports along with studies. This will encourage sports talents. World class sports institutes will be developed in Madhya Pradesh. The shooting academy is amazing too. Adequate budget provision has been made for the development of sports. In future also all necessary steps will be taken.
Chouhan said that Sports Minister Yashodhara Raje Scindia and the team of Sports Department deserve congratulations for their success. Players of Madhya Pradesh are practicing sports with diligence. In the coming times, we will achieve gold medals in many sports at the international level. Chief Minister Shri Chouhan said that today we have given proof of our excellence in hockey before the world. India has a bright future in women’s hockey too. The Indian women’s hockey team is fourth in Olympics. They definitely lost the last match but won the hearts of the whole country with their good performance. Rs 31 lakh each will be awarded to each player of Madhya Pradesh government women’s hockey team. Chouhan said that today three saplings have been planted in the Smart Park of Bhopal for the revival of hockey.
Vivek Sagar said that Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister has displayed his love for sports at the award ceremony. He expressed his gratitude to Chouhan for the honour he received today.
