CM to NVD dept: Complete irrigation project at faster pace

Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said that the Narmada Valley Development Department should make efforts to complete the irrigation projects in the State at a faster pace. Projects whose work has not started yet should be started expeditiously. Our top priority is to increase the irrigation potential in the state. Chouhan gave these instructions while presiding over the 72nd meeting of Narmada Control Board in Mantralaya.

Chouhan said that Harda district should be made cent percent irrigated district in the state. This will be a big achievement for the state. By becoming cent percent irrigated district, Harda will be able to become an ideal model for other districts. Water Resources Minister Tulsiram Silawat, Farmers Welfare and Agriculture Development Minister Kamal Patel, Chief Secretary Iqbal Singh Bains and other officials were present in the meeting.

It was informed that under Chinki-Boras Barrage Joint Multipurpose Micro Irrigation Project, Chinki and Boras Barrage, Power House, Pump House etc. would be constructed. This project will benefit 396 villages of Narsinghpur-Raisen and Hoshangabad districts and irrigation facility will be available in one lakh 31,925 hectare area.

Under the Sanwer Micro Lift Irrigation Project, a pressurized piped irrigation system will be constructed in Khargone-Indore. 272 villages will be benefitted by the project and irrigation facilities will be available in 80,000 hectare area.

In the meeting, approval was given to extend the time limit for providing irrigation facilities through micro irrigation system in Khargone district till June 30, 2023 under Bhikangaon Binjalwara Micro Irrigation Project. On completion of the project, irrigation facility will be available in 50,000 hectare area.
