Coach Des Buckingham has parted ways with Indian Super League club Mumbai City FC to join third-tier English side Oxford United.
Buckingham began his professional coaching career at Oxford United at 18, and it’s no surprise that he jumped at the opportunity to coach the team which have been without a full-time manager since February 2023, when Karl Robinson left the club to join Leeds United as assant manager. Craig Short has been in charge of the side since.
Buckingham joined Mumbai City in 2021 and led them to the ISL League Winners’ Shield in an emphatic fashion. They set up the record for most goals, most wins, and fewest losses in the season, and at one stage they were on an unbeaten streak of 18 games.Most Read

Buckingham had been linked to Oxford United for a couple of weeks now. He will know plenty about the way they function having initially worked through the club’s age-group squads. At the start of the 2013–14 Football League Two season, Buckingham progressed as a coach into the first team, under then-manager, Chris Wilder.
Mumbai City are currently positioned at an impressive fourth place in the ISL without a loss in five matches.
