What’s Inter Milan’s plan to stop Lamine Yamal? Coach Simone Inzaghi reveals | Football News

Lamine Yamal, who became the youngest player ever to score in a Champions League semifinal in the first leg had exasperated Inter Milan so much that its coach Simone Inzaghi had admitted how he had to take the risk of putting three players around him.
“I’ve never seen a player like Lamine Yamal in the last 8-9 years. We had to put three on him and, obviously, spaces opened up elsewhere,” he had told Prime Video.
“He caused us huge problems, as we had to double up the marking every time, it wasn’t enough, so tripling up we’d leave gaps elsewhere and were forced to sit deeper.

In a press conference on May 5, Inzaghi was asked about Yamal again.
“We have to try to keep the ball from getting to him, but not always possible,” he told reporters.
“He will obviously be double-marked, he’ll be a marked man, and we’ll try to pay close attention to him.
“Seeing him live, he’s an incredible talent, truly very dangerous — everyone gives him the ball. But it’s complicated, what struck me about him live was his speed of thought, even before receiving the ball he already knows what to do”.Story continues below this ad
Inter Milan defender Alessandro Bastoni was also quoted the publication Di Marzio on Yamal.
“He is the strongest I have ever played against. I was impressed the level he has reached, in terms of ability to create chances he is the best. How can we stop him? We will have to do as we did in the first leg, double and triple him. Barcelona is not just Yamal, they have an enviable offensive department .”
After playing 3-3 draw in the first leg of semi- final, Barcelona and Inter Milan will face each other in the second leg on Wednesday.
