‘Conditions favourable’: Monsoon expected to arrive in Mumbai in next two days, says IMD | World News

A day after it downgraded its rainfall warning for Mumbai from ‘orange’ to ‘yellow’, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Saturday announced monsoon will arrive in Mumbai over the next two days.
Shubhangi Bhute, director of IMD, Mumbai, on Saturday said during the next 24 hours, heavy rains will continue in Konkan and western Maharashtra along with several other dricts in the state.
“The conditions for arrival of the monsoon are now favourable in Maharashtra and onset is expected to happen in the next two-three days. Low pressure over the Arabian Sea has turned into a depression and is expected to enter Ratnagiri drict, so a red alert has been issued over there along with Satara and Kolhapur. Besides rainfall, there is a possibility of gusty winds reaching speeds of up to 50 kmph,” he said.
