Cong, BJP accuse each other of horse trading
After two BJP MLAs cross voted in favour of Congress in the State Assembly, the Congress and the BJP continue to trade charges of horse trading on each other.
Leader Opposition Gopal Bhargav here on Thursday accused the Congress party of alluring economically weaker MLAs while Public Relations Minister PC Sharma claimed that many BJP MLAs were on the fence and could join Congress anytime soon.
Ahead of a meeting over membership drive, Leader of Opposition Gopal Bhargav told the media that it is quite laughable that Congress blames BJP of horse trading across the country and itself played a dirty game in assembly recently and is still continuing with the game.
“Congress is trying to allure our economically weak MLAs but they don’t know our MLAs are lions, they are hard but to crack,” Bhargav said. On Public Relation Minister PC Sharma’s claims that several BJP MLAs are on the fence and could join the ruling party shortly, the LOp said it was nothing but overconfidence of those in government as they are flying high on small achievements.
Notably, two BJP MLAs—Sharad Kol and Narayan Tripathi— had voted for Kamal Nath Govt on a bill in MP Assembly. The two MLAs who faced no action from the BJP did not turn up at the party meeting at BJP headquarters on Thursday.
When asked to comment on the absence, party state head Rakesh Singh replied to the media that several leaders are absent from the meet owing to their different engagements and the party is aware of this. “Let’s not link their absence with something,” Singh urged the media.
