Could the season speed record be broken on Sunday?

When the first MotoGP Bharat race is flagged off on Sunday, there is a possibility that the MotoGP’s speed record for the season could come under threat.
The race — which will be hosted at the Buddh International Circuit in Greater Noida — will be the first time the motorsports caravan comes to town. The track has previously hosted Formula 1 races.
The current high-speed record was set Brad Binder of Red Bull KTM with a searing 366.1 kmph pace.
The organisers of MotoGP Bharat believe that the newly homologated Buddh International Circuit could allow a rider to vroom at 370 kmph, thanks to its 1006-metre-long back straight. The organisers also pointed out that the way the the straight stretch is made could facilitate this. The stretch is divided into two parts. The first segment is downhill, which will allow the riders to achieve maximum acceleration. The latter part is uphill and will enable them to brake late and maintain top speed.

“The changes made to the Buddh International Circuit are truly remarkable. This track now stands witness to India’s commitment to hosting world-class motorsport events. We believe the circuit has the potential to reger speed that could rewrite the MotoGP record books,” said Carlos Ezpeleta, Chief Sporting Officer of Dorna Sports. Most Read

The other aspect that could facilitate the speed record being broken is the stadium section on turn 9 and 10 which will act as a camber for riders to slingshot out of the turn.
“MotoGP Bharat is poised to redefine speed in the world of motorcycle racing. The Buddh International Circuit has -undergone remarkable modifications, and it will be breathtaking to see the riders achieve mind-boggling speeds,” said Amit Sandill, Director Racing of Fairstreet Sports.
The challenging track includes 13 turns (eight right and five left). Since none of the riders have competed on the track before, the circuit will pose some challenges to even experienced riders like Francesco Bagnaia of Ducati, Marc Marquez of Repsol Honda Team, Marco Bezzecchi of Mooney, Brad Binder and Jack Miller of Red Bull KTM and Jorge Martin of Prima.
