CSK vs SRH: MS Dhoni fails to impress, scores 6 in his 400th T20 match | Ipl News

Mahendra Singh Dhoni joined a select club of T20 stalwarts as he made his 400th appearance in T20s when he took to the field against Sunrisers Hyderabad on Thursday. But it wasn’t a night to remember with the bat for the CSK captain as he was gone cheaply after Chennai were sent out to bat first Pat Cummins.
The 43-year-old, coming in to bat at No. 6, started his innings off with a single before swinging for a four off the 3rd delivery he faced. He, however, couldn’t do much more, getting caught Abhishek Sharma off Harshal Patel in the 17th over for a paltry 6
Dhoni is the most successful captain in T20 cricket hory, with 190 wins as skipper across 325 matches. Dhoni is also the most successful wicket-keeper in T20 cricket, with more than 310 dismissals to his name. The former India captain is also the most successful keeper in IPL hory, and is only three dismissals short of reaching 200 dismissals in the league.

Dhoni became the fourth Indian player to reach 400 T20 matches in an appearances chart dominated Kieron Pollard’s 695 matches. Dhoni has also recorded the most appearances in IPL hory since its inception in 2008, appearing in 273 games while notching up 5383 runs at an average of 39.01 and a strike rate of 137.74.
Dhoni is the third-highest active six-hitter in the IPL, only behind Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. Among Indians, only Rohit, Kohli and Dinesh Karthik have appeared in more T20 matches than Dhoni. Dhoni was part of India’s first-ever T20I match in 2006 against South Africa in Johannesburg. The wicketkeeper-batter was, however, out for a two-ball duck in his first outing.
Taking over the CSK reins from the injured Ruturaj Gaikwad, Dhoni has collected 140 runs in nine innings this season at a 145.83 strike rate.
Earlier, Sunrisers Hyderabad skipper Cummins won the toss and elected to bowl against Chennai Super Kings in an Indian Premier League match in Chennai.
