David Warner pulls out of T20 series against India | Cricket-world-cup News
Australia opener David Warner has pulled out from the five-match T20 series against India, starting from Thursday.
Warner, who was Australia’s leading run-scorer with 535 at 48.63 during their successful World Cup campaign has been replaced all-rounder Aaron Hardie.
“Selectors decided Warner would return home on the back of a successful yet demanding World Cup campaign,” Cricket Australia said in a statement.
Warner has said last week that he wouldn’t take a CA contract in 2024-25 but would be available for next year’s T20 World Cup in the United States and Caribbean and potentially the ICC Champions Trophy in 2025 in Pakan.
Warner’s withdrawal means just seven of Australia’s World Cup-winning ODI squad with remain in India for the series – Sean Abbott, Head, Josh Inglis, Glenn Maxwell, Smith, Marcus Stoinis and Adam Zampa – as well as reserve spinner Tanveer Sangha.
Matthew Wade will be Australia’s captain in the series. Most Read
