DC vs MI tip-off XI: Archer set to return for MI, Khaleel to miss out, Salt to make his IPL debut
IPL 2023: Delhi Capitals and Mumbai Indians will be desperate for a win to rejuvenate a stuttering season when they meet at the Arun Jaitley Cricket Stadium in New Delhi on Tuesday.
David Warner-led Capitals have lost three out of three, while Rohit Sharma’s Mumbai has lost two out of two. Both have their work cut out in all the departments, but one of them will definitely reger their first win of the tournament.
David Warner has got the runs for Delhi but it has come at a strike rate of 117. He is expected to do better than that. The star-studded Mumbai Indians too have a lot to figure out, starting with their explosive top-order which has flattered to deceive so far. Skipper Rohit Sharma looked good, a special knock from Ishan Kishan too is awaited while million dollar buy Cameron Green is yet to make an impact.
Here are the few tip-offs ahead of the match
Jofra Archer set to return
In Jasprit Bumrah’s absence, they were heavily dependent on Jofra Archer. But he too, experienced discomfort in his right elbow and missed their previous game against Chennai Super Kings. But on the eve of the match all-rounder, Cameron Green made it clear that everyone is fit and available. In the first match against RCB, Jofra looked a bit rusty but if Delhi continues to play on the spicy pitch on which they had played against Gujarat, the English pacer could prove to be a real challenge for Delhi openers.
Sakariya to come in for Khaleel
Delhi Capitals assant coach Pravin Amre on Tuesday has revealed that Khaleel Ahmed is unlikely to play against Mumbai after he pulled his hamstring in the last match againsr Rajasthan Royals. “We are still waiting for the scan reports,” said Amre. In Khaleel’s absence fellow left-arm seamer Chetan Sakariya, who played Delhi opening game could come in.
Phil Salt for Rovman Powell
With the weak middle order, Delhi Capitals might rope in Phil Salt in place of Rovman Powell, who has failed to impress in this season so far. Delhi Capitals acquired the services of Salt for INR 2 crore at the one-day mini-auction in Kochi on December 23. Salt is yet to make his debut in the IPL, but is an experienced campaigner in the shortest format of the game. He has scored 3817 runs in 167 matches in his T20 career so far.
Venue Stats
Since the start of 2019, the Arun Jaitley Stadium has hosted 31 T20s. Out of them, chasing teams have won 23, lost six and tied two.
