Bhopal: A functionary of the Congress’s youth wing out on bail in two murder cases, including that of his ser, allegedly murdered his wife in front of their two kids over suspicion of infidelity on Sunday night in Madhya Pradesh’s Gwalior, a police officer said.Police superintendent Amit Sanghi said Rishabh Bhadoriya, 40, the accused, has been absconding since. He added Bhadoriya killed his wife after a fight at their home. “Bhadoriya took out his gun and tried to shoot Bhavna. Their two kids, who were sleeping in the room, woke up. Bhavna ran away from the room, but Bhadoriya shot in her head. She died on the spot. Bhadoriya’s father, Krishna Kant, informed police about the murder,” said Sanghi .Police said Bhadoriya was spotted in Bhind, around 80 km away, on Monday afternoon and that they were trying to nab him. They added Bhadoriya was first arrested in 2001 when he allegedly killed his ser on suspicion of having a relationship he did not approve of.He came out on bail and joined the National Students’ Union of India, the Congress’s student’s wing. During the April 2, 2018, caste violence in Gwalior, Bhadoriya was arrested for allegedly murdering a Dalit. A video of Bhadoriya went viral on social media in which he was purportedly seen shooting at a crowd. After spending a year in jail, he was released on bail in 2019.In 2021, Bhadoriya was named Youth Congress spokesman and would represent the party in TV debates. He is believed to be close to top Congress leaders.Govind Singh, the leader of the Opposition in the state assembly, denied knowing Bhadoriya personally. “People told me he used to come to meet me like many other local leaders but I really do not know him.”State Youth Congress spokesman Vivek Tripathi said he had no idea about Bhadoriya. “At the national level, the party has been organising a campaign ‘Young India ke Bol’ to give space to young leaders. From Madhya Pradesh, about 200 people have been selected as spokespersons under the campaign and Bhadoriya might be one of them. He is not an elected member,” Tripathi said when asked about Bhadoriya’s elevation as spokesperson. The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party leader Lokendra Parashar said Congress is facing a dearth of leaders. “So, they are inducting criminals and fraudsters into the party. Bhadoriya is not an exception.”
