Donald Trump faces backlash after saying Rob Reiner died due to ‘incurable Trump derangement syndrome’; Seth Meyers says he ‘feared’ this | Hollywood News

All of Hollywood and the rest of the world are mourning the loss of director Rob Reiner and wife Michele Singer. The couple were murdered in their own home, and their son Nick has been arrested since then. While people were busy sending out tributes and condolences to the Reiner family, US President Donald Trump spoke about Reiner’s passing in a post on social media where he said that Reiner had a “mind-crippling disease known as TRUMP DERANGEMENT SYNDROME, sometimes referred to as TDS.”
Trump took to Truth Social and wrote, “A very sad thing happened last night in Hollywood. Rob Reiner, a tortured and struggling but once very talented movie director and comedy star, has passed away, together with his wife, Michele, reportedly due to the anger he caused others through his massive, unyielding, and incurable affliction with a mind-crippling disease known as TRUMP DERANGEMENT SYNDROME, sometimes referred to as TDS.”

He continued and wrote, “He was known to have driven people crazy his raging obsession with President Donald J. Trump, with his obvious paranoia reaching new heights as the Trump Adminration surpassed all goals and expectations of greatness, and with the Golden Age of America upon us, perhaps like never before. May Rob and Michele rest in peace!”
Naturally, these words did not sit right with a lot of people on the internet, who blasted him for his tone-deaf comments. Talk-show host Seth Meyers took it upon himself to talk about Reiner’s unfortunate passing and Trump’s words around it. He said on his show, “Rob was no fan of the president, and because of that the president was no fan of Rob. This is something everyone knew, but he still wanted to take the opportunity to go on social media and post his thoughts about this tragedy.”
Meyers did not hold back and accused the president of not having even a modicum of “humanity”. He said, “I feared that he was going to do this, and that it was going to cast a shadow on an already dark day. But it was even worse than I could have imagined. He made it about himself, because he is incapable of making it about anyone else. It was reported that the crime might have been committed a troubled family member, which makes it even more of a tragedy. But if you have an ounce of humanity, and you really need at least that amount.”
Rob was a second-generation Hollywood star who was known for directing movies like A Few Good Men, When Harry Met Sally, Spinal Tap, and The Princess Bride.
