Don’t call me ‘sasur’: Shahid Afridi to son-in-law Shaheen Shah Afridi
Former Pakan captain Shahid Afridi has warned his son-in-law for calling him “sasur (father-in-law) in public.
“Sasur, mai tumhare muh se ye dubara na sunu (I don’t want to hear this word from your mouth again),” Shahid Afridi told Shaheen during a chat with Samaa TV.
Shahid Afridi explained Shaheen should not call him father-in-law as he has also won a cricket trophy recently. Afridi was talking about Legends League Cricket, where Asia Lions defeated India Maharajas 9 runs to win the trophy.
Log kehte hai Shaadi ke baad enjoyement khatam ho jaati hai. Bilkul nahi hoti aap aur jyada life ko enjoy karte ho aur jab bacche ho jaate hai toh aap life ko aur enjoy karte ho.
“He has won PSL with Lahore Qalandars. Next day, I won the Legends League Cricket trophy in Qatar,” he said.
Shaheen also revealed how special it was for him when he bowled against Shahid Afridi in the Pakan Super League five years ago. The lef-arm pacer also shared what type of relationship he shares with Shahid Afridi
“He is my role model. He has been the inspiration for me. I have enjoyed Lala’s batting, I used to switch off TV when he used to get out. Ye mere hero hai. He is like my friend,” said Shaheen.
Afridi said Shaheen is like his son and he has surprised him with his maturity.
“I have always been a friend to my wife and daughter. Shaheen is like my son and friend. He is a very good boy and he has surprised me with his captaincy. It is so good to see the maturity in him at such a young age,” said Afridi.
Shaheen also recollected the fanboy moment when he cleaned up Shahid Afridi in 2017.
Never thought I would become a family member. When I played against him it was a dream come true feeling for me. I took his wicket,” said Shaheen.
Afridi interrupted: “First I hit you for a six. Tell the entire story.”
Shaheen said: It was Brendon McCullum’s fault, he asked me to bowl a slower one.”
Afridi chipped in: “Aah don’t make excuses.”
Afridi lauded Shaheen for leading Lahore Qalandars to back-to-back wins but said he is not ready to lead the national team.
“Leading a franchise team is easy but leading Pakan cricket is a difficult thing. Myself, Misbah, we have bee through this, it is a very difficult job.
“But the good thing is he don’t have any interest in captaincy. He is happy leading Lahore Qalandars and that is enough. He is focused on his cricket.
“I was never in favour of captaincy but he has surprised me as well. He has impressed everyone. He lead the franchise to back-to-back titles. Mohammed Hafeez and Rashid has lauded his captaincy. But is still feels leading the senior Pakan cricket team is a dant dream,” said Afridi.
