Don’t think 2023 is going to be Virat Kohli’s last World Cup: Chris Gayle

Former West Indies captain Chris Gayle believes the 2023 ODI World Cup won’t be the last for former India skipper Virat Kohli.
“Virat Kohli still has another World Cup in him. I don’t think this is going to be his last World Cup. I think he has another World Cup in him. India are favourites, they play at home as well. So, it’s going to be very interesting. We want to see the team they’re actually going to select,” Gayle told Times of India.
With India getting ready to host the World Cup, there have already been speculations on if the upcoming outing will be the last for Kohli, who won the 2011 edition, in the ODI format world championship.
“Virat Kohli is (now) in Sachin Tendulkar’s shoes. The way he plays, he talks, he looks after the others and the way he plays cricket with his passion, he is the one now. Everybody is looking to win this World Cup for Virat Kohli,” Virender Sehwag had said during an ICC event to announce the World Cup schedule.
Gayle, who was part of the Windies team that featured in the last World Cup hosted India, also spoke about the much awaited India-Pakan clash and that the cricketers should demand more money to participate in the same.
“Whenever those teams play, especially in a World Cup, the revenues they generate is humongous. One game can take care of the entire ICC event. Pakan and India players should demand a lot of money for those games because those games are high paid games TV wise.

“I don’t control the board or the ICC. If I was in their position I would want a lot more,” Gayle said.
